Quick Start

This Quick Start guide will help you build a Carousel page for your RapidWeaver Web site. This will show you how to add a Carousel page and add rich text content to your Carousel. If you haven't already installed Carousel, then see the Installation guide before you start this tutorial.

  1. Open RapidWeaver and add a new page by clicking the + button.
Carousel is a page style plugin that is accessed by adding a new page to your Web site. The + button is located in the lower left corner, below the list of pages on your site.
  2. Choose Carousel from the list and click the Add button.
You now have an Carousel page in your RapidWeaver Web site. The Carousel edit window appears and shows three main areas: a list of Carousel items (now empty), an area to edit the content of each item, and a toolbar.
  3. Find a folder of images.
Although RapidWeaver can scale large images to an appropriate size for web use -- it's always easiest if your images have already been prepared for web use. iPhoto can resize images to an appropriate size for the web while it's exporting. To keep things on the quick side, you should choose a folder with fewer than ten images.
  4. Drag the folder to the Carousel item list.
This will import all of the photos in the folder into Carousel. Each image will be imported to both the thumbnail view and to the content view. If the images are from a camera that supports it, the EXIF data will be imported and added to the content text. EXIF data often contains the date and time the picture were taken and a few other pieces of information. You can, of course, delete this information from the content area if you wish.
  5. Click the Preview button at the top of the RapidWeaver window.
Preview your site to see how it looks.
  6. Click the Publish button at the top of the RapidWeaver window.
Publish your site and you're done!
